Have you ever been feeling down, but suddenly remembered a friend’s testimony of how the Lord miraculously worked out their situation? Maybe all hope seemed lost, but they steeled themselves and pressed on in faith and they had a “happy ending” to share. Or, even more relatable, what they thought they wanted didn’t happen, but with the benefit of time, they realized just how precious they were to God?
Well, I have days when I can remember these types of heart-shares. And I have other days when it just seems like there’s no one who is going through something quite like I am. In moments of loneliness, another voice, another testimony would help me to re-focus my eyes from my problem to our Savior. Now of course, you’re not going to insist that everyone you know tells you their story on demand. But often we find those testimonies in the Bible and in devotionals.
There is one such devotional that I would like to share with all of my readers. It’s called, “When God’s Word Speaks“. Its the latest devotional from Wycliffe Bible Translators. Each vignette is someone’s testimony and each one includes a scripture to anchor it. This is the book to pick up and read when you need to hear voices that you can relate to in your current life. And this is also the book to pick up when you need to be inspired by the reminder that the God of the Bible, the God of yesterday, is still the same God now and every will be.
God is faithful. And the power of testimony lies in encouragement to remember that He is faithful. When you are discouraged or lonely, God is still faithful. When those you love are hurting and you can’t fix it (and isn’t that one of the deepest hurts?) – God is still faithful. Join me and other Christian Mommy Blogger readers in letting the encouragement of testimony remind us that God is faithful.
You can purchase, “When God Speaks” for only $15.95 – which is a great way to be part of Wycliffe’s 75th anniversary celebration. As as special gift to us, they are offering us a 25% discount. Just use the code CMB25 at checkout.
When you receive your copy, I really want to hear which testimony was the most encouraging to you. For me it was the one with the title, “In Abraham’s Footsteps”. I won’t spoil it for you, but I will share the scripture:
“It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith – for he was like a foreigner.” Hebrews 11:8-9a
There are times when I feel lost in this world and I imagine Abraham did too. And yet, God is faithful. We have the testimony of Abraham to encourage us.
