At a recent Sunday evening service Pastor ended his encouraging message with reminding us that God is still working. God is not done with any of us yet. That rang so true in my heart. How about you?
Is there anything you’re believing God for? Anyone that you’re lifting up to God day after day? God is still working. We just can’t always see it. Even if we can’t see it, that doesn’t mean its time to give up.
There are times when I am fully able to keep pressing closer and closer in to Him. There are other times when I realize I have to rely on Him to give me the grace to do so. Ever have days where you feel overwhelmed and like its all just too much?
I find it helpful sometimes to say things out loud. Ok, I will tell you, that sometimes it feels a little silly, kinda like talking to yourself. Except in this case, you’re talking to both yourself and God.
Sometimes, there will be friends or family to encourage you. Sometimes, you will have a great song or something funny happen to cheer you up. But you know what? Sometimes you have to encourage yourself.
I read a passage in Psalm 10 this morning and it was so declarative and encouraging to say out loud. Say it out loud like you believe it! Even if you have to shout it. Even if you have to say it over and over. Believe it when you say it. Its Psalm 10: 16-17. In the NIV, it reads:
“The Lord is King for ever and ever; the nations will perish from his land. You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,”
You could even try paraphrasing as you declare both to Our Mighty God and to yourself:
“The Lord is King for ever and ever; the nations will perish from His land. You, Lord, hear my desires when I am afflicted, You encourage me and You listen to my cry.”
When you really dive deep into this verse and hold fast in believing it, you are:
Declaring the sovereignty of the Lord
Recognizing that things of temporary nature will pass away but God will never pass away
Reminding yourself that the Omnipresent Lord is near and never far
Feeling deep in your being that you can rely on the Lord
