Today’s featured post comes from community member, KC, who blogs over at “Moral Morsels”. She linked up her post, “Don’t Judge an Egg by its Color” to Fellowship Friday 59 last week.
Her illustration and funny cooking example really drove how the lesson of not judging others simply by superficial or surface characteristics. Also, her kids are just so adorable! 🙂
Her post seemed particularly appropriate for Black History Month – where we can celebrate the great progress our country has made in moving past superficiality in terms of judging people and trying to deem them less worthy.
As Christians, we have the knowledge and heritage of knowing that God alone can judge – and he searches our hearts deep. He doesn’t use the world’s criteria for (1 Sam 16:17).
What a great verse for us all to ponder!
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
And the New Testament reinforces Samuel’s revelation from Lord. We read in John 7:24, “Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgement.”
We are so blessed to have the Bible to show us what is right judgement and to guide us past appearances! This is a wisdom that we need so that we can reach out to those that God has called us to serve.
Let me know if her post encouraged you the way it did me.
